What to expect on the Salem 101: General History Tour

Salem has worked its way into the American identity as four centuries of historic events and global trade have unfolded here. Not all of them are about witchcraft. You will be surprised at the quality of maritime history, revolutionary spirit, and innovative residents that have come to Salem. History lovers enjoy our Federal architecture, picturesque waterfront, and historic streets.

Written by professional historians, teachers and authors who research our local archives, you can celebrate Salem on its 400th anniversary and discover the incredible history that makes our coastal community unique.

And you will be led by a local, certified Salem guide who brings these stories to life.

Our walking tours give you a wonderful perspective of our quaint city. We bring you throughout the downtown area as well as the McIntire District and the Seaport area.

   •   TOURS RUN RAIN OR SHINE. NO REFUNDS.

  • We do not go inside any buildings.

  • Dogs are allowed on our tours, with the exception of the cemetery.

  • Access to tour locations is subject to city regulations.
